چکیده
Abstract Unit-level modeling strategies offer many advantages relative to the area-level models that are most often used in context of small area estimation. For example, unit-level aggregate naturally, allowing for estimates at any desired resolution, and also greater precision cases. We compare a variety methods available literature related Specifically, provide insight into differences between methods, we conduct simulation study compares several general approaches. In addition, further illustrated through an application American Community Survey.

Robust Small Area Estimation Under Unit Level Models
Small area estimation has received considerable attention in recent years because of an increasing demand for small area statistics. Basic area level and unit level models have been studied in the literature to obtain empirical best linear unbiased predictors for small area means. Although this classical method is useful for estimating the small area means efficiently under strict model assumpt...
متن کاملComparison of Small Area Estimation Methods for Estimating Unemployment Rate
Extended Abstract. In recent years, needs for small area estimations have been greatly increased for large surveys particularly household surveys in Sta tistical Centre of Iran (SCI), because of the costs and respondent burden. The lack of suitable auxiliary variables between two decennial housing and popula tion census is a challenge for SCI in using these methods. In general, the...
متن کاملSmall Area Estimation under Informative Probability Sampling of Areas and Within the Selected Areas
In this article we show how to predict small area means and obtain valid MSE estimators and confidence intervals when the areas represented in the sample are sampled with unequal probabilities that are possibly related to the true (unknown) area means, and the sampling of units within the selected areas is with probabilities that are possibly related to the outcome values. Ignoring the effects ...
متن کاملParametric Distributions of Complex Survey Data under Informative Probability Sampling
The sample distribution is defined as the distribution of the sample measurements given the selected sample. Under informative sampling, this distribution is different from the corresponding population distribution, although for several examples the two distributions are shown to be in the same family and only differ in some or all the parameters. A general approach of approximating the margina...
متن کاملInterval Estimation for Small Area Proportions with Small True Proportions from Stratified Random Sampling Survey Data∗†
Consider interval estimation of m small area proportions Pi (i = 1, · · · ,m), where we assume a stratified random sampling design with equal number of observations n in each stratum, and where the domains of interest are the strata. A 100(1 − α)% confidence interval for Pi that has appeared repeatedly in the literature and is used in application is given by P̂ i ± zα/2 √ msei, where P̂ i and mse...
